THE HEIGHT OF 1970s LUXE

A VERY RARE PIECE COMMISSIONED BY A PRIVATE COLLECTOR TO CARTIER PARIS

Unpacking Cartier’s Sharpest Trio

ONE-OF-A-KIND AND CONVERTIBLE, this is a piece of jewellery for the collector looking for the rare, the sexy, and the mysterious.

Rare, because this jewel does not come in the typical Cartier design language. Instead, it's the product of a custom project commissioned by a private collector in the 1970s to Cartier.

Sexy, because it gives so much Seventies it'd be right at home at Studio54.

The round shape made of angular panels in 3D, as the mixing of yellow and white gold against two baguette diamonds are giving us the streamlined, sensual appeal of Halston and Tom Ford's Y2K Gucci.

Mysterious, because very little is known about this magnificent piece's backstory.

The privacy around it ⎯ and the mystery of its original owner ⎯ mean there are no records nor photos of this Cartier necklace-brooch-choker being worn!

(Regardless, suffice to say that we've tried and tested it: It's spectacularly wearable across all three possibilities)

The centre piece, convertible from a pendant to a brooch, is composed of two diamonds and myriad panels made in yellow and white 18k gold.

Each component was individually handcrafted before being assembled to make up, puzzle-like, a beautifully 3D circle.

What do we love the most?

That, at its time, this trio was the epitome of avant garde ⎯ so much so, that it remains so incredibly modern today. And so versatile you'll be wearing it with a T-shirt & blazer combo as with an evening dress.
