Yet few people know their size. The sizing game is confusing: Do we go UK, US, EU? Pinky or pointer? Can you resize vintage? We have questions -and answers- for you.

1. THE BASICS: WHAT DO THE NUMBERS & LETTERS MEAN?
- RING SIZING DIFFERS BY COUNTRY
UK: Letters (J, K, L…)
US: Numbers in inches (6, 6.5, 7…)
EU: Numbers in millimetres (circumference-based) - THERE'S NO UNIVERSAL 'MEDIUM', though for reference, most women fall between UK sizes L–N, and most men around T–V.
- YOUR DOMINANT HAND IS SLIGHTLY LARGER, measure the exact finger you’ll wear the ring on.

2. FIND YOUR SIZE WITHOUT GUESSING
- OWN A RING THAT FITS Measure its diameter (inner edge to edge, in mm) and compare it with our size chart.
- DIY WITH STRING OR PAPER Wrap it around the base of your finger, mark where it overlaps, measure in mm, then convert. (Not the most precise, but better than nothing.)
- GO PRO A local jeweller can size you in seconds and usually for free.
- GIFTING Sneakily borrow a ring they wear on that finger, or enlist a close friend to investigate.

3 YES, MOST RINGS CAN BE RESIZED
- MOST SOLID GOLD, PLATINUM, OR SILVER BANDS CAN BE RESIZED Going up or down a size or two is usually no problem.
- ETERNITY RINGS AND INTRICATE SETTINGS MAY NOT BE RESIZABLE Ask first, especially for antique or designer pieces, to avoid affecting your ring's intrinsic structure.
- RESIZING UP IS OFTEN EASIER THAN DOWN, so if you're unsure, plan to size slightly bigger.

4. A FEW TRUTHS
- FINGERS SWELL throughout the day. Always measure in the evening, when they’re at their puffiest.
- HEAT, COLD, SALT, AND EVEN FLYING can change your ring size temporarily.
- STACKING RINGS should sit snug; COCKTAIL RINGS can be a touch looser for comfort.
- EACH FINGER IS DIFFERENT: what fits your index won’t fit your ring finger.
