ROMANCE IS IN THE AIR: WITH AN ENCHANTING PAIR of drop earrings with large polished emeralds, elaborate diamond-set flowers and geometric links in 18k gold, a story of love is being told. Long, dramatic and powerfully feminine, these jewels turn every gesture into a loving display of colour and light.
Estimated to have been created in the 1950s, the earrings retain the fantasy of Art Déco while introducing the architecture of Midcentury fine jewellery. Floral surmounts centred on oval cabochon emeralds lead into articulated diamond links and angular caps set with baguette and round-cut stones.
Two generous pear-shaped emerald drops move freely. Their green surfaces contrast with the brilliance of the diamonds and the warmth of yellow gold. The result is ornate yet so disciplined: It takes much rigour and talent to blend flowers, geometry and movement in one design.
